What is Microcurrent Facial Rejuvenation?

Microcurrent Facial Rejuvenation utilizes an innovative and powerful technology that combines Microcurrent and LED light therapy. This is the only face lifting renewal system that uses both the power of microcurrent to regenerate and lift tissue while delivering wavelengths of custom colors to feed and renew your skin.

Microcurrent Facial Rejuvenation revitalizes your facial muscles, tissues, and skin without chemicals, needles, or surgery. It stimulates the skin and underlying muscle and facial tissues to lift and firm. This system is safe, pain-free, and all natural. There is no downtime or hiding out while your skin recovers from other aggressive treatments like laser or acid creams. With Microcurrent Facial Rejuvenation, you will notice improvement with the first treatment. And most of all – it’s relaxing. Our clients often fall asleep!

“It must be working, because even my men friends notice and say I look great!” ~LM, male client

How Does Microcurrent Work?

Microcurrent is a low-level sensationless electrical stimulation which provides a type of current that matches the amperage of current found in the cells of the body (1,000,000th of an amp!)

It is used by medical doctors, chiropractors and acupuncturists to promote accelerated healing in bones, muscles, and other tissues, and is particularly popular with athletes for injury recovery.

Originally discovered as a way to regenerate wrinkled, sagging facial muscles for post-stroke and Bell’s palsy patients, microcurrent has become a powerful tool for estheticians to reverse the damage aging does to your facial skin. Research on microcurrent’s effect on fibroblasts (connective tissue cells) by skin biopsy before and in between microcurrent treatments, has found a statistically significant increase not only in the production of collagen and elastin, the skin’s main structural proteins, which degrade with age, but in that of glycosaminoglycans, or “GAGs,” the viscous material in which the proteins are embedded.

When applied to the face, Microcurrent tones and tightens muscles to lift the droop in cheeks, brows, and jowls and smooth wrinkles.

“I’m in my mid 60’s and wanted to tweak my skin without harsh treatments. After 10 treatments, my pores are smaller and my skin is tighter and looks much fresher! I am using less product now, and I’m happy with the results!” ~PW, female client

How Does LED Light Therapy Work?

LED light therapy is a gentle process by which light of various frequencies or (colors) is projected onto the skin and into underlying tissues. The specific colors penetrate the skin to different depths, causing photo-stimulation, a therapeutic and cell-renewing process that has been clinically proven to improve cell function.

LED light therapy can:

  • Accelerate skin repair by promoting the production of collagen. Studies suggest up to 400% increase in collagen.
  • Return the elastin layer back to its original glue-like nature.
  • Reduce appearance of scars, stretch marks, sun spots, acne and blemishes.
  • Accelerate wound healing and restore injured, damaged or diseased cells to their original healthy nature.
  • Increase circulation, nutrient transfer, oxygenation and moisture.
  • Increase the evacuation of waste and free radicals.
  • Decrease inflammatory cells.
  • Promote new skin cell development.

BACKGROUND: Interest in anti-aging approaches has grown significantly in recent years. The most popular are the non invasive methods to decrease the signs of aging. One such method is LED-based therapy.
Combined, the LED wavelengths could improve in vitro the cell shape, the cell proliferation, and the level of major proteins involved in the healing process.
CONCLUSION: These benefits may lead to reinforcement of the skin organization and structure.

Clinical trial of a novel non-thermal LED array for reversal of photoaging: clinical, histologic, and surface profilometric results. Weiss RA1, McDaniel DH, Geronemus RG, Weiss MA. Lasers Surg Med. 2005 Feb;36(2):85-91.
CONCLUSIONS: Photomodulation to reverse photoaging is possible with a specific array of LEDs with a specific fluence using a precise pulsing or “code” sequence. Skin textural improvement by digital imaging and surface profilometry is accompanied by increased collagen I deposition with reduced MMP-1 (collagenase) activity in the papillary dermis. This technique is a safe and effective non-painful non-ablative modality for improvement of photoaging.

Light-emitting diode-generated red light inhibits keloid fibroblast proliferation.
Mamalis A1, Jagdeo J. Dermatol Surg. 2015 Jan;41(1):35-9. doi: 10.1097/01.DSS.0000452650.06765.51.
CONCLUSION: Light-emitting diode-generated red light can inhibit keloid fibroblast proliferation in a dose-dependent manner without altering viability. Light-emitting diode-generated red light has the potential to contribute to the treatment of keloids and other fibrotic skin diseases…

Red light interferes in UVA-induced photoaging of human skin fibroblast cells.
Niu T1, Tian Y, Ren Q, Wei L, Li X, Cai Q. Photochem Photobiol. 2014 Nov-Dec;90(6):1349-58. doi: 10.1111/php.12316. Epub 2014 Aug 18.
Furthermore, the telomeres in UVA-treated cells were shortened compared to those of cells in the red light groups. These results suggest that red light plays a key role in the antiphotoaging of human skin fibroblasts by acting on different signaling transduction pathways.

Low level light therapy by LED of different wavelength induces angiogenesis and improves ischemic wound healing. Dungel P1, Hartinger J, Chaudary S, Slezak P, Hofmann A, Hausner T, Strassl M, Wintner E, Redl H, Mittermayr R. Lasers Surg Med. 2014 Dec;46(10):773-80. doi: 10.1002/lsm.22299. Epub 2014 Oct 31.
CONCLUSIONS: LED treatment of ischemia challenged tissue improved early wound healing by enhancing angiogenesis irrespective of the wavelength thus delineating this noninvasive means as a potential, cost effective tool in complicated wounds.

How Many Treatments Will I Need?

The effects of Microcurrent are cumulative. The more treatments you have and the more often you have them the faster your results. This is because Microcurrent Facial Rejuvenation works just like taking your body to the gym. Through repeated treatments, cellular tissue on your face strengthens, firms, and heals, just like how weightlifting strengthens muscles. Each Microcurrent Facial treatment creates enhanced lift and firmer facial contours. A series of treatments builds upon the last treatment to increase the collagen and elastin in your facial tissues and make your underlying muscles stronger for a longer tissue lift.

Your face will return to a younger, more youthful appearance through a Microcurrent Facial Treatment series. Follow it up with regular maintenance treatments to stay looking your best.

Here is what Microcurrent Facial Rejuvenation can do for you based on your age and issues:

20-30 years old?
Slowdown and prevent aging effects: treat every 2 months
Increase skin tone: 10 treatment package, 1 treatment weekly

30-35 years old?
